The young rat is a commonly employed model of human hair regrowth in chemotherapy-induced hair loss. For many antineoplastic agents that cause significant hair loss, dose regimens were identified that resulted in loss of body hair. In most of our experiments, heat was used to induce a stress protein response. A simple device for administering a defined heat dose was built, consisting of a hollow copper cylinder heated internally by circulating water provided by a precision waterbath.
